Reasons why nationalists who oppose the plantation should vote ‘YES’ for abolition of Seanad Éireann
1: The greatest danger in a reformed Seanad (as will happen if it survives) is that it will become a forum with ‘quotas’ set aside for all kinds of self-styled ‘progressive’,’do-gooder’ and whiner interest groups eg. the ‘vulnerable’, gays, feminists, humanists, preachy lefty poets etc.
2: BUT much more worrying would be the inevitable appeasing of the so-called ‘New Irish’. Not just will they get their mugs on our postage stamps but guaranteed seats in our Upper House . So we will have nominations from the Muslim Council of Ireland, the ROMA community (or Gypsies’ as we knew them), indigenous ‘travellers’, and all those from around the world ‘fleeing terrorism’ but who lost their passports in a phone box! These will be the new voting block in Seanad Eireann to which our invertebrate career politicos will defer . Imagine if this new caucus decided that the airing of the Angelus on national TV was an insult to their ‘new-Irishness’ ?
3: One other good thing about the demise of any such new ‘Trojan-horse’ Seanad (whose official name would also doubtless have to be in Arabic,Chinese and Polish ) – it will spell the end of those so-clever members from the rotten borough of Trinity who can’t otherwise get themselves elected to anything in countless attempts, and other trendy thinkers that Taoisigh with big majorities might inflict on us in future. It has been shown that despite 15 years of population replacement in our country , not one person who would ever represent and speak for the dwindling native people who are leaving their homeland in desperation at its plight was ever chosen in a Taoiseach’s 11.
The above contribution is a submission from a follower of this blog. Patrick Talbot endorses this position and urges followers to vote ‘Yes’ to the abolition of the Seanad and to vote ‘No’ to gravy train that would be Court of Appeal.
